Your Wine Kit Includes:

  • A grape juice concentrate blend pouch, meticulously formulated to complement the intense flavour profile of bilberries.
  • A wine yeast sachet and a yeast nutrient sachet, fundamental for a successful and thorough fermentation process.
  • An acid regulator and stabiliser sachet to ensure the wine's optimal acidity and preservation.
  • A flavouring add-back to intensify the wine's bilberry aroma, enriching its overall taste and aroma profile.
  • Wine finings A and B to clarify your wine, ensuring a smooth and appealing appearance.

 

The ingredients are carefully selected, featuring a base of white grape juice concentrate, enhanced with elderberry and apple juice concentrates, and a special bilberry flavouring to capture the essence of this unique berry. It also includes crucial additives like citric acid, sodium citrate, and preservatives such as potassium sorbate and sodium metabisulphite to ensure the wine's quality and shelf life.

To craft your own Bilberry Wine, follow these simple steps:

  1. Ensure all winemaking equipment is thoroughly cleaned and sanitised before you begin, to provide a clean foundation for your winemaking.
  2. Follow the kit's guidelines to mix the ingredients properly and prepare the wine must.
  3. Allow the must to ferment for at least 5 days, facilitating the development of the bilberry wine's unique flavour profile.
  4. Remove any sediment to achieve clarity and purity in your wine.
  5. Bottle your wine, adding up to 430g of sugar if a sweeter taste is preferred.
  6. Relish the taste of your homemade Bilberry Wine, a delightful creation that showcases your winemaking talents.

Additional Equipment Required:

  • A fermenter with a minimum capacity of 5 litres for the initial fermentation.
  • An airlock and grommet to maintain the right fermentation conditions.
  • A demijohn or secondary fermenter for the wine's clarification process.
  • Essential tools such as a mixing spoon, hydrometer, and thermometer for precise preparation and monitoring.
  • A syphon for the careful transfer of wine, ensuring minimal disturbance to the sediment.
  • Cleaner and steriliser to maintain the cleanliness and sterility of your winemaking equipment.
  • Sugar, specifically 800g of granulated sugar or 890g of brewing sugar for fermentation, with an optional 430g for sweetening at the bottling stage.
  • 6 x 750ml wine bottles, corks, and a corker or screw caps to securely seal your wine.
