So the story goes... in the early 1900's Auntie Agnes Russel lived in Scotland and developed a wonderful Ginger Compound Concoction, which her local chemist made up for her using Ginger Essence. Her ginger cordial drink was famous in the area where family and friends would partake of the liquid refreshment but recipe was a closely guarded secret and it became known as Russel's Riddle.
Answering to a family crisis, Aunt Agnes and her sister moved down to South Shields to look after their 3 nephews and bought the recipe with her where she continued to use a friendly local chemist to create the compound now known as Riddles.
The recipe has been passed down the family generations and the original recipe with the riddles name is now owned and cared for by Wine Online who are ensuring that the compound stays true to the original recipe and are creating new extensions of the formula to give more choice to the consumer, we're sure Aunt Agnes would approve and be tickled pink!

Couldn’t believe I found Riddles Ginger Wine, the same make my mum used to buy from a chemists shop at the Nook in South Shields. Not only that but it tastes just as I remember from over 50 years ago and brought memories flooding back.

first time I have tried riddles as difficult to find ginger wine essence now. excellent service and wine takes me back 60odd years to a time when christmas was less commercialised but much more enjoyable. Thoroughly recommend product and service.
As title says, this took me back 40+ year's, when a lovely old lady neighbour used to make this monthly and give me a bottle.
